The Hairdresser's Guide to Enlightenment

Let Freedom Reign!

How surprised would you be to find that you’re not living life by your own terms?

That’s right. Right here in “The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave”, most of us are walking around like prisoners, following someone else’s rules for living because we are afraid that if we don’t, our life will crumble around us. Don’t believe me? Okay, when was the last time you said, “I should, I’m supposed to, or I have to… (Fill in ...

All Aboard the Bliss Bandwagon!

This week more and more of my clients are taking a ride on the Bliss Bandwagon and experiencing some phenomenal results!  One of my favorite success stories was a woman that just made a killing selling her own jewelry designs after leaving her agonizing corporate job.

As usual, this pattern is mimicking my own growth over the last couple of months, of refining the ability to catch myself when my thoughts, words, or deeds are out of alignment ...

Financial Crisis? Are you sure?

I sat in my new home  in Encinitas, CA  thinking about the  money that had recently been deposited  in my bank account from the sale of my Nor cal home. It was a lot of money, at least to me, definitely more than I’d ever had before and plenty to last me a couple of years without working. I had finally arrived, I thought to myself. I’d worked hard,  reached my dream of living by the ocean, being debt free, and starting my new career as a coach. It seemed I had reached a place in my life that I could finally relax and enjoy myself for awhile…but I was wrong.

As it turned out, the feelings of peace and contentment that you’d think would accompany the above accomplishments still eluded me. It had only been 2 short weeks since my move and already I was experiencing that all too familiar anxiety coursing through my veins. It was the same feeling I’d get if I’d lose a client, had an unexpected bill show up, or some other financial worry.  I still didn’t feel safe! Why though, when I had plenty of money AND all the things I had been striving for for so long?

The reason? Because what the mind believes is a powerful thing.  I believed that having money would make me feel secure and free. No wonder the balance of my checkbook had always been so important to me.  In my dream of living a joy-filled life, feeling secure and free are essential ingredients. What I realized however was that having money only changed what I felt insecure about. Now instead of worrying about having enough money, I worried about holding onto it.  It appeared money wasn’t the answer. But what was?

Right then, I declared The End to My Money Stress Pattern and immediately asked for some Soul guidance!!  One of the first pieces of guidance that came to my aid was a nudge to revisit a book that had been sitting on my shelf for a year unread.  It’s called “The Abundance Book” by John Randolph Price.  When I read it, I realized where I’d being going wrong.

It seemed I had made the mistake of forgetting what provided me with the money in the first place. Contrary to what I had been thinking, it wasn’t my job.  It wasn’t my keen real estate knowledge. It wasn’t luck or chance or my struggle to succeed. The source of my money was the same source that had always orchestrated my life towards the things I wanted the most.   It was the source that had always brought the perfect people or resource into my life at just the right time. It was the creative and awe inspiring source that on numerous occasions had helped me achieve what I wanted through unexpected surprises, interesting openings or “blessings in disguise”. More importantly, it was the Source that had given me the dreams and desires in the first place and what I believed would always be there for me, regardless of the balance of my checkbook.  I decided then and there, that the best things in life would always come my way, not because I stressed and strived or had enough money to “make them happen”, but because I live in a friendly universe, the true source of abundance, and what I am in fact, made of.

I heard this guy at an event one time talking about the real meaning behind the Ten Commandments.  When he got to (Exodus 20:3) “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”  This is exactly what he meant. ” When we make external things, be it money, relationships, or career paths our “God” (focus) or way to “Heaven” (peace, freedom, joy, abundance), we severely limit ourselves and set a course for dismay. Since putting my faith in a power bigger than the buck, I haven’t been let down yet!!! In fact, my life has expanded and unfolded in so many miraculous ways that my feelings of joy and freedom are at an all time high!

If you’re ready to get off the roller coaster ride of having your joy be determined by your financial situation, try this out!  I know that trusting can feel a little scary at first, it’s only natural when you’re trying something different. Most of us have made money our “savior” our whole lives and it almost feels unnatural to let go of all that.  The thing is, that you never know what’s possible if you don’t try. Keep reminding yourself that a friendly universe has your back.  If you look for evidence of this fact  in your own life, I’m sure you will see that it always has.

Love and Blessings, Misty

The Ride of Your Life!

I've always loved amusement park rides, especially ones where I feel transported to another time or place. For example, since I was a kid, I've wished I could somehow live in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. It has all the ingredients of a perfect adventure; the relaxing float through the nighttime bayou, the mystery of navigating the dark tunnel passage, the excitement of plummeting down the waterfall, and the wonderful sights and sounds of treasure hunting and pirate battles. It’s amazing! No matter how many times I ride that ride I am forever thrilled by all the twists and turns of it. I think what I love most about rides in general is that all I have to do is get in, sit back and observe the wonder! I laugh, I squirm, I relax, it's over and then I get to do it over again! It occurred to me recently how much life is like that. << MORE >>

Me and My Shadow

As someone committed to fully being ME, you’d think I would’ve gotten this before but I have to admit, I’ve only recently really integrated the whole knowledge of “shadow
selves” into wisdom. Not familiar with the term?  Let me put it this way, the Shadow refers to any part of yourself that you think isn’t good. Any part of your life or behavior that brings
about feelings of shame, not good enough, disgust, embarrassment, etc.

The Sybil Syndrome

There’s just something about writing that makes my heart sing!  It’s the same feeling I get when doing any of the things that I’m good at or enjoy. I feel easy, relaxed and happy… and do you know why???  It’s because when I’m doing the things I WANT to do, I’m tuned into my Soul’s voice.  That’s what the Soul does.  It inspires, uplifts and makes life pleasurable.

Now let’s talk about that other voice, shall we? You know the one that says, ...<< MORE >>
